“Strenuous, calming and so much fun!
I joined the class about 15 months ago and immediately felt at home. Justine was welcoming and the atmosphere was very friendly. Her instructions are clear and straightforward, delivered with a mixture of seriousness and humour. She is very aware of any physical limitations and injuries and gives us alternative ways of doing postures where appropriate, thus ensuring that we do not exacerbate any condition or injure ourselves. There are always suggestions for improvement offered, along with encouragement.
I had attended a Yoga class, possibly Hatha, for about a year but did not really enjoy it. Having discovered a Vinyasa class a couple of months before and really enjoyed it, I joined Justine’s class. I found it was everything I wished for, reasonably strenuous, calming and so much fun! She is also very knowledgeable about the whole concept of Yoga.

I love these classes!
My prior experience of yoga was very limited and not particularly satisfying. What makes these classes different is Justine’s attention to detail, her care that everyone in the room is getting the most out of their practice, and her explanations – for the first time it all makes sense! I also really enjoy the variety – Justine gets the mix just right every week, and clearly puts a lot of thought into the structure of each class.
They provide a significant lifeline in a very stressful set of circumstances and I always leave feeling immensely better – calm, relaxed, feeling like my body has had a good workout, and ready to face life again.

“I am so glad I joined the beginners course…”
I am so glad I joined the beginners course. I feel like I have developed a good foundation to continue to build on. In the past when I had tried yoga classes at the gym I felt like I spent the whole class copying the instructor and just trying to keep up.
Your instructions and explanations were clear and helpful. I enjoyed the classes and would like to do more classes in the future. The relaxation at the end of the classes was a real treat!
I would recommend the course to others.
A couple of points to mention about my practice:
At the start of the course, I didn’t quite believe you when you said that downward facing dog was an active resting pose! haha. However, at the last class we did, it almost felt like something clicked and it felt like a resting pose for the first time. It felt really good.
Thank you for the help you gave me with coming down into plank during the sun salutations – it has always felt like something didn’t quite work for me and I would just kind of flop down but I feel like your guidance helped to improve this. I still feel like this needs some work but definitely feels better than just flopping down.
Your instructions and explanations were clear and helpful. I enjoyed the classes and would like to do more classes in the future. The relaxation at the end of the classes was a real treat!
I would recommend the course to others.

You gave really good explanations of the various poses, the breathing and a little background which was interesting. I feel like I’m finally getting to grips with the breathing, which I never really understood before and I’ve never enjoyed doing downward dog but I think I am starting to see how it becomes easier as you practice more.

The very different challenges of rocket and yin followed by an incredible gong session to round the day off interspersed with conversations with lovely, friendly, interesting people. “I really enjoyed it. I haven’t really done Yin before but I came out feeling so relaxed – and that is really saying something for me as I can never normally switch off. Rocket as always was great and I’ve picked up a few great tips for building up my inversion practice.
Thank you for making this retreat, it felt like you jumped into someone’s house having a good day, a generous day and for me the biggest change was how light I felt in my body.
I’m quite active but it is such a different feeling when you rest the mind and the body with peace. Also love how all the pieces weaved together.

A great way to diversify one’s practice
The Yoga itself was amazing. I thought the order of classes worked well for me and the arm balance class went through some good fundamentals which improved my confidence.
The yin and gong were both new to me and both were fantastic. A great way to diversify one’s practice and I’ll definitely be seeking out more going forward. I loved meeting new people and the lunch break (amazing food btw) was a great chance to catch up after some morning yoga.

“I am so happy I was asked by Justine to teach a couple of classes at her London retreat. You can tell a lot about a teacher by the students that show up. The yogis at the unique, intimate, and spacious old pub in East London were just as interesting and lovely as the building. It was a rare treat to be immersed in the yogic lifestyle, without having to rush out and on to the next thing. Justine put together an amazing team of teachers, organised beautiful food, and handled everything behind the scenes as well as teaching!
